The name Shellharbour is derived from the quantity of shells found in the harbour during the time of settlement. The original village was called 'Peterborough', as it was the Peterborough Estate owned by D'Arcy Wentworth.
ShellharbourVillage today is an ocean front café strip that is fast becoming the talking point of the region with its great mix of outdoor cafes, award winning restaurants and famous fish and chips. There are an eclectic range of specialty boutique shops which are great for browsing or finding that special gift.
